India is a key market for Spanish wines and cuisine. To further
the understanding of its products, certified sommelier and director of Indulge India, Gagan Sharma was awarded a scholarship by ICEX for
an eight-week programme, making him the country’s first Spanish Wine Specialist. The programme provided an in-depth study of Spain’s history, geography, cultural influences, and gastronomy, while highlighting its diversity and winemaking traditions. It concluded with an examination,that Gagan passed with flying colours.
Gagan said, “The programme was well structured, with discussions and exchanges between sommeliers, traders and educators from around the world. It was a fantastic opportunity to represent India as a strong market for Spain and a great way to expand my knowledge, which I look forward to sharing with wine enthusiasts in India.”
